It is 1.8 billion miles from the sun, and approximately 4 times wider than earth. It is almost identical to Neptune in size. Uranus has 27 known moons. It was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel. NASA first sent a spacecraft To pass by Uranus in 1986 and it was called Voyager 2.
